Buvette is the new spot for hipsters in Luxembourg. Opened one week ago as part of the new Rotondes (a culture and concert venue in Luxembourg Bonnevoie-Gare), Buvette serves lunch, drinks and dinner every day of the week. On Sunday from 11am to 3pm there is a children friendly brunch. For lunch, you can choose between a vegetarian and a fish/meat option as well as some burgers. In the evenings only the burgers are available (with a vegan option if you want). I chose the classic organic burger with organic Luxembourgish beef and a special of jalapeños. The burger comes in a bun that resembles more a classic sandwich bun than a burger bun, which makes the burger less sweet and in my opinion more enjoyable. The meat was very nice and flavourful. The fries are handmade and probably not fried twice, so they are not really crispy but have a good potato flavour. The only criticism was that the seasoning on the fries (some salt mix with chilli and other spices) was too salty for my taste.
Buvette serves organic and local ingredients whenever possible, and a lot of vegan or vegetarian options are available. The food menu will be extended in the future. On the drinks side, Buvette has some very nice beers and wines (try the Elbling from Luxembourgish and organic producer Krier-Welbes, at only 3.8€ (!) a glass you will have a delicious and very typical Luxembourgish white wine).
Atmosphere wise, Buvette is hip but also a bit rough. You have to pick up the food, prepared by two lovely chefs, yourself in the food truck outside. The interior of Buvette is simple, a bit dark and gloomy. The staff still needs some practice too. Overall however is Buvette a cool place to have a drink and some food in a sympathetic and chilled out atmosphere. Give it a go!
